Boingo Wireless MTA and LIRR Penn Station Head End Room

For this project, Stirling Mechanical furnished, installed, and commissioned a redundant Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) System to regulate the Boingo wireless head-end room temperatures at Penn Station. These specialized STULZ units operate using facility-supplied chilled water. Flow and BTU meters were installed and integrated into the Penn station Building Management System (BMS).

As part of their scope, Stirling also interfaced with a new Inergen system and provided controls and equipment to purge the room in the event the system is ever activated. This particular scope took extreme coordination to align all stake holders' needs and modify the controls as necessary to accommodate integration of both the existing and new systems.

The completed room provides the LIRR ridership continuous access to WIFI while our equipment ensures that the room is able to operate 24-7 for many years to come.
