Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge Annex HVAC Update
Stirling Mechanical is proud to announce a major accomplishment on Project GFM-534 WO-09, Replacement of the HVAC System at The Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge Annex Building. The building is used by the MTA Bridges and Tunnels personnel who oversee the operation and upkeep of the Marine Parkway Bridge. With the work we completed under this contract, they will now have a more reliable, energy-efficient HVAC system to support their work.

The project involved replacing and upgrading the entire HVAC system. The new system is significantly more efficient because of the modern Energy Recovery System and allows for more precise temperature control due to the increased number of indoor units expanding from 5 zones to 12. This ensures that different areas of the building can be maintained at the desired temperature based on the specific needs

Our team managed the full scope of work, including the removal of the previous HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping, and electrical demolition, as well as the installation of the new, upgraded HVAC system with architectural upgrades to support the new equipment.

The new equipment installed included 12 Air Handler Units, 2 Heat & Energy Recovery Units, Electric Duct Heaters, new ductwork, space heaters, and a domestic water booster pump.

This project is a major achievement; Marine Parkway Bridge Annex will now operate more efficiently, reducing energy use in comparison to the old system, while also providing a more efficient and more comfortable work environment for staff. By tailoring equipment and controls to the size of each room, the systems deliver improved regulation of both temperature and moisture.

Notably, our team completed the work while the building remained fully operational throughout the demolition and construction phases. This project has successfully reached Substantial Completion as of September 2025, which marks another successful collaboration with the MTA to modernize facilities that support critical infrastructure.
