Project Scope

​

• Installation of electrical isolation flanges along the existing 8-inch sump discharge lines within the Steinway tube—the under-river tunnel connecting Manhattan and Queens on the 7 line.

• Isolation of the 8-inch pipe system in entirety from its hangers, executed using electrical insulative tape at approx. 1,500 locations.

 

Project Achievements

• All work completed during 53-hour track outages.

• Made possible only via close coordination with work train operators & extensive knowledge of work trains within the tunnel allowing the level of precision required for successful maneuvering.
